The Mastery of Focus
Focusing on your goals is a must in order to achieve it. It lets you formulate certain strategies in order to achieve it. In anything you do, don’t let your eyes wander from your goals. It will serve as a guiding line that directs you to what you really want. Imagine this - you are lost in a cave. As you find your way out, you see a shimmering light. This means an exit. So, you follow its direction until you are free from the cave. The shimmering light here is the goal that I am talking about.
This article discusses on how you can gain mastery of goal setting. It will help you a lot, especially to people with task-related problems, so focus your attention in it.
Lose Battles but Win What You Want
There are many instances wherein, in achieving a certain goal, you lose battles. But I will say this to you. You may lose battles in achieving your goal, but it does not mean that, although you are losing, you will not get what you want. Although you are losing battles, try to formulate strategies that will help you achieve your goals. Focus on your goal, and it will lead you to it although it seems you are losing battles in achieving it.
Take the Vietnam War as an example. The North Vietnamese wanted a communist government in Vietnam, but in order to do this, they will have to face countries acknowledge as great powers (led by the United States). The Vietnamese did not win any battles during the war, but they have won the war. Thus, they got what they wanted - a Communist Vietnam.
Mind Setting
In focusing towards your goals, setting your mind positively (by thinking that you will achieve your goal) is a great help. It programs your mind to meet whatever goals you have. Remember that what is programmed in the mind will be followed by the body. Thus, setting your mind in achieving your goal also means instructing your body to do so.
Formulate Plans with Branches
It is wise to plan with branches in order to achieve your goals. What do I mean by “ plans with branches?” In planning, it is obvious that you are making a tentative plan, but sometimes, circumstances will not let you follow your plan accordingly. Thus, you are stuck with one plan that does not work. This is where “with branches” enters. When you plan, have a tentative plan, but put some accessory plans if your tentative plan fails.
